After being granted bail of R200k each, controversial self-proclaimed prophet, Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary ‘escaped’ South Africa illegally…

According to the Hawks, the couple have fled to Malawi, and claim to fear for their lives. They are facing charges of fraud and money laundering related to an investment scheme to the value of over R102 million.

Another self-proclaimed prophet, Paseka Motsoeneng (most popularly known as Prophet Mboro) ‘predicted’ that Bushiri would get bail. The two pastors were allegedly involved in a ‘spiritual war’ against each other but Mboro told eNCA that they had buried the hatchet.

eNCA interviewed Mboro about Bushiri’s escape after rumours circulated that Mboro was one of the last people that the pastor had phoned before he left the country.

Mboro laughed at the allegations, saying they were completely untrue. “We met with Bushiri before. He did try to reach me. Tuesday or Wednesday I saw a missed-call but I didn’t respond. I sent WhatsApp messages to say I was busy during the day, and could we talk.”

Mboro says he was also shocked by Bushiri’s escape.

On Monday afternoon, the SABC confirmed that the Pretoria Magistrate’s court had issued warrants of arrest and revoked the R200 000 bail for the fugitives.
