30-Year-old children’s nurse, Lucy Letby appeared in the Warrington Magistrates’ Court last Friday, 13 November.

According to Cheshire Police, she’s been charged with eight counts of murder and 10 of attempted murder after an investigation into an unusually high number of baby deaths at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit.

Letby worked at the unit between 2015 and 2016. She was originally arrested for the alleged crimes in 2018, and again in 2019. She finally appeared in court last week.

The children’s nurse faces a total of 18 charges relating to the babies who were placed in her care. Many of them were preterm babies who required additional support. According to an internal inquiry by the hospital, several premature babies died of heart and lung failure but “were unusually impossible to resuscitate.”

The trial continues.
