A heartbroken Ursula Chikane took to social media to reveal that her nephew, Mikey had passed away. Condolences have been pouring in from all corners of the country.
It’s been a painful start to November for Ursula Chikane and her family had experienced a painful loss like no other. The former Top Billing and MTN Gladiators presenter shared the sad news on her social media platforms where she revealed that her nephew had been taken this past Sunday.
The Chikane family is in mourning
The Power FM presenter is usually one of the liveliest and most bubbly personalities on social media, but she took a much more solemn tone on Monday evening when she took to Twitter to share the kind of news that no parent ever wants to deliver. The broadcasting veteran announced that her 27-year-old nephew, Mikey, had passed away, sparking an avalanche of comforting messages.
Less than 24 hours after losing her nephew, a grieving Ursula began by hinting on Twitter that something was wrong. She first wrote, “So, this is what a truly shattered heart feels like”,
As her fans began to express their concern as to what might have inspired the first message, Ursula opened up as she shared a picture of her nephew with a caption that read, “Our precious boy. My one consolation is that you always knew how much we love you. Born 7 July 1993. Taken from us 8 November 2020. RIP Mikey.”
Celebrity and fan condolences pour in
Ursula has shared no further details about her nephew’s passing and the cause of death, but in the time since she opened up, the news has sent shockwaves across the country. Not only is Ursula a popular broadcaster, but she is also one of South Africa’s most beloved personalities and seeing her in such pain was unbearable for many of her fans and peers.
A number of South African celebrities made the effort to virtually offer Ursula a shoulder to cry on when they sent messages of support and comfort on social media. A few of them read:
