At the end of October, South Africans were shocked by Katlego Maboe’s confession that he had been unfaithful to his wife…
The popular Expresso presenter and OUTsurance commercial star was the talk of Twitter after a video was leaked and went viral. The footage showed Katlego’s wife, Monique Muller, confronting him about his infidelity.
Monique also alleged that her husband had given her an STD.
In the video, Katlego admits to being unfaithful, and also names the person he says he had an affair with. Nikita Murray was labelled as “the other woman” but has not spoken out about the issue until today.
On Thursday, in an interview with TimesLive, Nikita’s legal team slammed the “malicious” video, and released a statement on behalf of Nikita Murray and her husband, Matthew.
Nikita’s lawyer is Vincent Bergh of Liquor Law and Business Consultants. He noted that she had undergone a medical test which proved that she did not have an STD.
Statement from lawyers
“Our clients are very perturbed about the wild allegations flying around in the media, involving Mrs Murray and her family,” said Bergh.
“Due to these allegations, Mrs Murray had undergone a medical test to confirm that she has no sexually transmitted disease. The claims by Mr Maboe that Mrs Murray was the cause of him contracting the STD as accused of by the person who made the video, is therefore irresponsible and impossible.”
“We want to reiterate that our clients are happily married and they have dealt with the effects of this malicious video in private. Their marriage is stronger than before.
“They want to thank all their family and friends and the public who had supported them during these trying times. We trust that you will set the record straight and not harass our clients any further.”

A case against Katlego – laid by Monique – was not heard in court on Tuesday. This was after there was confusion over the docket which was not brought to court.
Katlego Maboe arrived at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was expected to appear for allegedly breaking the stipulations of a protection order which Muller obtained on 3 September at the Sea Point police station.
According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila, however, the expected court appearance did not take place.
Cardova Productions – the media house which produces SABC 3’s morning show Expresso – as well as OUTsurance, have both issued statements regarding the issue.
Part of Cardova Productions’ statement read, “We condemn any acts of violence and mistreatment, especially against women and children, and therefore take such allegations very seriously. Until such time as the matter has been fully investigated, and pending the outcome, Katlego Maboe will not be appearing on The Expresso Morning Show.”
While OUTsurance Spokesperson Natasha Kawulesar said on behalf of the brand, “Following media reports of infidelity and an acrimonious marital relationship, including alleged physical abuse, involving Katlego Maboe, OUTsurance has engaged extensively with Katlego. It was decided that Katlego and his family should be afforded the space and time to deal with this matter.
“We also want to clarify that Nikita Murray is not a current OUTsurance employee. She last worked for the company in 2018. Katlego and Nikita met independently and not via any relation to OUTsurance.”
