Get your sunscreen out, the South African Weather Service has warned that the heatwave will continue throughout much of South Africa today and into the early half of the week…

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Northern Cape, the western and central parts of the North-West province, the Free State province and the northern parts of the Eastern Cape.

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the extreme eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, Lowveld of Limpopo, north-western parts of Kwa-Zulu-Natal, places in the Free State, North West and Gauteng continuing until at least Tuesday (20 October 2020).

1. Gauteng:

Fine and hot becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. It will be very hot in the north.

2. Mpumalanga:

Fine and hot, but very hot in the Lowveld. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers on the highveld.

3. Limpopo:

Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy from afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers from late afternoon into evening over the central and western parts.

4. North-West:

Fine and very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

5. Free State:

Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

6. Northern Cape:

Very hot in the north, otherwise fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy over the extreme eastern and southern parts in the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south to south-easterly but strong at times.

7. Western Cape:

Morning fog in places along the west coast, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm with evening light rain over the eastern parts of south coast.

The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly to north-westerly in the early morning, otherwise moderate to fresh south to south-westerly becoming light towards the evening.

8. Western Half Of The Eastern Cape:

Hot and windy in the north, otherwise fine and warm, but partly cloudy to cloudy in places along the coast where it will be cool.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly by evening.

9. Eastern Half Of The Eastern Cape:

Cloudy and warm with fog patches in places south of escarpment in the morning, otherwise fine and hot, but partly cloudy and cool in places along the coast and adjacent interior.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong south-westerly overnight.

10. Kwazulu-Natal:

Cloudy at first with fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north-west.

The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly becoming easterly to north-easterly from the south towards mid-day.
