Kristen Stewart has officially been cast in the role of Princess Diana in an upcoming royal memoir
…and to mixed reviews, if we’re honest.
Many have voiced their disapproval at the Twilight and Charlie’s Angel star taking over such a delicate and sensitive character, especially in the role of their favourite royal.
Others have stated that we should give her a fair chance at it.
This week alone, the actress spoke out about being intimidated by the larger than life role, claiming she found it difficult to master the accent
She also claimed she had done her ‘research’ and that she was extremely ‘excited’ about taking on the role.
Kristen Stewart says she begins filming her Princess Diana biopic ‘SPENCER’ in early 2021:
“I don’t want to just play Diana — I want to know her implicitly. I haven’t been this excited about playing a part.”

Speaking to InStyle, she said: “I’m working on it now and already have my dialect coach. In terms of research, I’ve gotten through two and a half biographies, and I’m finishing all the material before I actually go make the movie. It’s one of the saddest stories to exist ever, and I don’t want to just play Diana — I want to know her implicitly.
“I haven’t been this excited about playing a part, by the way, in so long.”
Do you think Kristen will do the role justice?
Like K-Stew, other actresses have been cast as the ‘Princess of The People’ in a number of TV and movie productions at various stages of her life….
Naomi Watts – Diana
Unfortunately for the Australian star, the movie of Di’s complicated life was hailed a massive flop in the box office.
Caroline Bliss – Charles & Diana: A Royal Love Story
The former fab four are not the only ones who had their love story and wedding play out in a made for TV movie. A year after Charles & Di’s wedding, Caroline played the bride who adjusted to life in the Royal Family.
Julie Cox- Princess In Love
Another made for TV movie – but with all the drama! The movie aired a year before her death and detailed her life of unhappiness in the Royal Family.
Amy Seccomb – Diana: A Tribute to the People’s Princess.
A year after Di’s death, her memory was immortalised in the film which detailed her many humanitarian interests.
Emma Corrin – The Crown
And before we see Kristen take on a modern day approach to Princess Diana, we’ll first witness actress Emma play her in season four of the hit Netflix series, which officially airs next month.
Elizabeth Debicki is set to star as Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’ for seasons five and six, joining Jonathan Pryce, Imelda Staunton, and Lesley Manville.
The Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex have commissioned a statue of Princess Diana.
Prince William has penned a letter on behalf of himself and his brother Prince Harry to their late mother Princess Diana’s charity.
Earl Spencer – the brother of the late Princess Diana – claims ‘The Crown’ is riddled with inaccurate and misleading information. #TheCrown
