It’s been almost a year since Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode recorded their hit track, Jerusalema , and the song is still making waves around the world

Even President Cyril Ramaphosa has encouraged South Africans to put on their dancing shoes and take part in the Jerusalema challenge in celebration of Heritage Day on 24 September.

But instead of just dancing along to the song, the SA film and television industry has decided to take things up a notch, creating a “mini-feature film”.

The idea, which came about two weeks ago, will see cast and crew members “come together en masse and in collective solidarity to shoot a mini-feature film of the JERUSALEMA dance. The content will include a scripted narrative which directly cuts into an authentic, custom built film set at the Cape Town Film Studios,” a press statement explains.

The film will be shot over two days with an A-class production, creative and technical team joining forces to bring it together.

The crew includes members who have worked on major Hollywood productions like Bloodshot, Black Panther, Avengers and Tomb Raider .

“Storyboard artists have conceptualized a Storyboard of a narrative that includes a scripted movie sequence which cuts directly to a working film set that is interrupted when hundreds of crew and cast (staggered in groups of 100) break into the Jerusalema dance on an authentic, fully dressed set, and a custom-made DJ stage (with lighting and sound),” the statement further explains.

While a release date has not yet been set, the feature will be available to watch on YouTube.
