Last week, Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn celebrated the birth of their baby daughter…

Sheeran shared the news on Instagram, revealing her name as Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here,” he posted. “We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”

Here are 6 things we can learn from Ed & Cherry’s love story

1.     Young love can last

The couple’s epic love story began when Sheeran was just 11 years old!

They met at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk, and “crushed” on each other back then. In Ed’s song, “Put It All On Me” which features love stories from around the world, the caption reads “Back in high school, Ed & Cherry were crushing hard. They made out at the castle on the hill. A few years ago they reconnected, there were fireworks. They married in January 2019.”

2.     If it’s meant to be, it will be

After ‘crushing’ on each other in high school, the pair went their separate ways. Ed pursued his music career and Cherry went to the US to pursue her studies. But the distance couldn’t keep them apart and they rekindled their romance in 2015. According to reports, Cherry moved back to the UK to be with Ed in 2016.

3.     Privacy is important

Despite Ed Sheeran’s rise to fame and fortune, the couple kept their romance under wraps. They make a point of keeping their private lives to themselves. In a touching post in December 2017, Sheeran revealed that he’d “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”

The couple also didn’t have a big, splashy, celeb-filled wedding. In fact, the only way fans found out that they had tied the knot was when Sheeran released his latest album, “No. 6 Collaborations Project.”

The album features a track called “Remember the Name” with Eminem and 50 Cent. The lyrics include a mention of his “wife”… “Watch how the lyrics in this song might get twisted / My wife wears red but looks better without the lipstick.”

4.     Just be ‘real’

In contrast to many ‘social media couples’, Ed and Cherry always come across very ‘real’ in the rare occasions that they share their lives with the world.

Last year, the couple appeared in their first music video together for Ed’s single “Put It All on Me.” The video shows the loved-up pair in comfy clothes enjoying each other’s company in their London apartment. They dance, laugh, act ‘silly’, and genuinely seem to love each other for their authenticity.

5.     Family time is sacred

In 2019, Ed Sheeran announced that he would step down from playing gigs to spend time with his wife and family. He had been on tour for two years straight and recognised that the needed a break, and to invest his time and energy at home.

He and Cherry announced the arrival of their beautiful baby girl on Tuesday morning. Again, they kept their family matters private. The image they posted was of a tiny pair of baby’s socks rather than a photo of the child.

6.     They are grateful for each other’s love, and constantly affirm each other

In a video interview with Charlamagne Tha God Sheeran said he’s grateful for his marriage to Seaborn.

“I constantly wake up every day with Cherry and I’m just like, ‘Why the (expletive) are you with me? You could literally be with whoever you wanted, and you’ve chosen me. And I’m saying all of the things that I think are wrong with me, but you still want to be with me,'” he told Charlamagne Tha God. “And I just find that amazing.”
