Duchess Meghan’s parting words to the British royal aides have been revealed…and they’re pretty emotional!
According to Omid Schobie, who co-wrote the book and was present at the final engagement, Meghan reportedly said: “It didn’t have to be this way” as she hugged and bid farewell to a number of employees.
“Staff who had been with the couple from day one were mourning the end of what was supposed to be a happy story; two people fall in love, get married, have a baby, serve the Queen, the end. Instead, they were leaving the country,” read an excerpt from the book.
Meanwhile Prince Harry has expressed his fervent desire to return to the UK, albeit not to see his family, but watch the upcoming Rugby League World Cup
In a recent video call with member of the Rugby League, Harry said: “We’ve got a whole Rugby World Cup coming next year, so I definitely plan on coming back.”
On missing ‘home’, he added: “I would have been back already had it not been for Covid”.
Meghan & Harry’s last visit to the UK was in March for their final engagement, where they joined Prince William and his wife Duchess Kate along with other family members for a frosty reunion at Westminster Abbey.
Another excerpt from the book claims Meghan was “emotionally bruised and exhausted,” after the final appearance.
“Meg just wanted to get home… At that point she couldn’t imagine wanting to set a foot back into anything royal again,” claimed a close friend in the book.
