Yvonne Chaka Chaka and the Mzansi Youth Choir have collaborated on a stunning single titled Bazali Be Sizwe in honour of Women’s Month
Translated as ‘mothers of the nation’, the song is an ode to all the women – and in particular to selfless and sacrificing moms.
“Women are an ocean, nurturing and strong. Let us all recognise their worth,” Yvonne said in a statement of the song’s significant meaning.
The choir’s musical director Sidumo Nyamezele added: “The chorus, Siyanibonga bazali be sizwe – it is an ode to the women of this country thanking them for all they have done in bringing us up and taking care of all our needs.”
Sidumo added that the song was inspired by “the grannies [in the neighborhood] supporting us, our mom’s cheering us on and those making sure we make it”.
