By Thursday, 4 June, South African business veteran, Solly Krok had almost doubled his goal of raising R108 million for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the country…
Krok aimed to walk one kilometre for each year of his age, completing 91 kilometres in total by 4 June. He encouraged South Africans and businesses to donate towards the venture, and had raised R2 million by his 91st birthday on 4 June.
Inspired by British war veteran, Tom Moore, Krok initiated the venture called “Keep the Wolf from the Door” to raise funds to address hunger and food insecurity. The venture’s name draws inspiration from the meaning of the common idiom which refers to having enough money to avert hunger or starvation.
To achieve this, Krok partnered with social impact organisations, Afrika Tikkun and Siyakhana.
Those who wish to contribute can do so by sending their donations to Afrika Tikkun NPC using the FNB account number 62196064100 and “keep the wolf from the door” as a reference. Or follow this link: www.keepthewolffromthedoor.org/donations
