Social media has been buzzing following a video of trucks, allegedly belonging to Sam ‘Chabalala’ Mshengu, which have gone on auction…

While most commenters speculated that the trucks were on auction due to repossession, a social media user who claimed to have been an employee Sam Holdings said the trucks on auction were old.

“Advovo please report fair and correctly so. Old trucks at Sam Holdings are on auction to make way for arrival of newly bought trucks. I work there,” said ThaboX101. He said that he hadn’t seen “Mr Sam” for the past three years, but that the employees at the company still report to their managers.

“Suicide note”

Mshengu had Twitter in a tizz in March following reports that he had gone missing after sending his wife and employees a “suicide note”.

He reportedly sent the note to his wife on 3 March claiming his life was in danger.

A warrant of arrest was issued for him in March after failing to appear in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on charges of corruption, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, among others. He was out on R200,000 bail at the time.

A suicide note seen by SowetanLIVE read in part: “I nkow my wife you wish to Barry my boady but I hope you will maybe find the remaining of me as I’m going to throw myself here in the crocodiles river or game reserve after Pongola as you go to Lwulwuwe N2 [sic all].”

Investigations to track him were still underway.
