Somizi has announced his intent to raise money to help the family of missing 16-year-old Andile ‘Bobo’ Mbuthu, who is believed to have been murdered in Tongaat earlier this month

The news of the teen’s death rocked social media after a video of an unidentified person showing him in a pool of his own blood at an undisclosed location, went viral.

According to reports, Bobo was allegedly beaten and murdered after being caught stealing alcohol from a local tavern.

Last week, SAPS search and rescue reportedly uncovered human remains near a river close to Bobo’s home, of which they state will be sent for a DNA test.

The news has outraged many South Africans, including Somizi who have called for justice to be served.

The Idols SA host has taken to social media to reveal that he had been in contact with Bobo’s family, who are eagerly awaiting the results of the DNA test.

Should news be confirmed that it is in fact Bobo’s body, Somizi claims that the family will decide on the next steps to lay the teen to rest.

Somizi has already volunteered to pay for Bobo’s coffin and has now pleaded with fellow South Africans to assist by donating to the family

He wrote on in his post, “Just spoke to Bobo’s mom… she is waiting for the results from the lab to say for sure that the burnt and mutilated body is her son then they can decide when the burial will be… in the meantime please assist with whatever amount; PG Mbuthu 1171334115 Capitec I’ll cover coffin… Whatever you can afford to help with the funeral costs… R50… R100… whatever… will be greatly appreciated… #JusticeForBobo”

Bless Somizi’s heart of gold!
