Clear and strengthen your nails

There are many reasons your nails could become stained and weak. One of the most common reasons is constant manicuring and glue on nails.

While taking time out from your usual nail weakening and staining routine, strengthen your natural nails and clean off any stains by soaking your fingers in lemon juice twice a week for 10-15 minutes. Moisturise your hands well after the lemon juice soak.

You can also make a nail mask out of olive oil and lemon juice. Rub the mixture on your hands focusing on your nails and wear gloves overnight.

Lemon juice is a natural brightening stain remover. It is also rich in vitamin C which promotes the growth of stronger nails.

Soften up your cuticles

Pushing back your cuticles could feel natural, but forcing back dry cuticles can be painful and also cause injuries that can become infected.

Softening and moisturising your cuticles instead and even before trying to push your cuticles back can save you a lot of pain.

Coconut oil is a great cuticle oil and if you’re prone to infections it also has good anti-fungal properties.

Prevent infections

Some people are just more susceptible to nail infections than others. Whether it’s shady tools, a type of yeast infection or recurring fungal infection, getting ahead of infections can be better for your nails than trying to cure them.

Soaking your nails in warm water with apple cider vinegar 2-3 times a week can help you get ahead of fungal infections.
