Mihlali Ndamase has come under fire for eyebrow raising remarks she made about teenagers dating older men

The drama started when a Twitter user who calls himself Little Fish asked his followers an interesting question.

“So babies tell me when u guys were in high school under 18 dating 20 – 30 year olds do u look back n think that was messed up sh*t or s’whatever cuz it felt completely normal n u happened to enjoy older men?” the tweep wrote.

Mihlali replied: “Didn’t see anything wrong with it then and I still don’t. Zero regrets.”

She has since deleted her reply.

The beauty influencer’s tweet earned her a spot on the Twitter trends list.

Many slammed her response, saying that she was basically supporting paedophilia

“These older men lure 15-year-olds with cars and money, and make them feel like they’re ‘mature’ and that’s manipulation and anything they do to these girls after is plain rape because they are underage. MIHLALI BASICALLY SUPPORTS R KELLY!” one woman wrote.

Many other Twitter users also accused Mihlali of supporting R. Kelly type behaviour with her comments.

“Because everyone understood exactly what paedophilia was when it came to him. Mihlali is out here saying there’s nothing with underage girls dating men above the age of 18. The comparison is a stretch but she is promoting R. Kelly behaviour if we’re being 100.”

Mihlali clapped back at her haters and stressed that she did not support high school girls dating men in their 20s and 30s

She clarified that she dated an 18-year-old matric pupil when she was in grade 9 – which would have made her 14 or 15.

Mihlali added that she was simply using her own experience to answer the question, not telling underage girls it was okay to date older men.

“Please don’t lie about me, I never said I dated a 30-year-old. I said I did not regret dating someone older than me in high school at the time & I don’t now, the person was asking for your opinion based on personal experience. Doesn’t make it okay tho.”
