For those of you who are not familiar with UCOOK, it offers one of South Africa’s favourite dinner-kit delivery services
UCOOK has taken its offering to the next level by announcing the launch of wine on its platform, enabling customers to order varietals that are expertly paired to each of the meals available every week.
We were lucky enough to try some of their new dinner and wine pairings, opting to make Chicken al Limone and Hake al Guazzetto, paired with the Delheim Pinotage Rose 2018 and Delheim Wild Ferment Chenin Blanc 2018 respectively.
Overall, we were hugely impressed! As busy bees with full-time jobs, having a perfect packaged dinner kit made preparing the meals simple and straightforward. Both dinners took under 30 minutes to make and the instructions were easy to follow. One of our favourite aspects of UCOOK is that you are exposed to cooking techniques and combinations that you usually wouldn’t try. It is evident that a professional chef has formulated the recipes when one considers the different flavour profiles, textures and ingredients.
The wines were beautifully presented and provided an ideal complement to the food. The quality of the varietals was also impressive. According to David Torr, founder of UCOOK, professional sommeliers from South Africa’s best wine farms are part of this service offering and work closely together with UCOOK’s chefs.
Each month, UCOOK will introduce customers to a featured wine farm. Customers will have the opportunity to learn about its wines with advice directly from winemakers and sommeliers, bringing the best of what restaurants and wine farms can offer into their homes. This provides a great source of guidance for those looking to brush up on their knowledge of wine.
Torr says customers will be able to add any wines they’d like outside of the pairing to their order, or simply purchase wine only, with a new checkout feature on the UCOOK site.
