Zozibini Tunzi will be a guest of honour at tonight’s State of the Nation Address to be held in front of the national assembly in Cape Town

It’s going to be a very busy day for Zozi. She has an open-top bus parade planned in Johannesburg, where she will show off her Miss Universe crown to thousands of fans and onlookers. Shortly after that, the pageant queen will be jetting down to Cape Town where she will be a special guest at this year’s State of the Nation Address, or SONA 2020.

The mood ahead of this year’s address is tense, as political analysts across the country have tried their best to predict what is going to happen when Cyril Ramaphosa takes to the podium. While our president has been known to speak positively even during dark times, he will need as much help as possible to ensure that the country will be left feeling enthused and optimistic by the end of his address.

And who better to spread the positivity than our very own Miss Universe?

Zozibini has been the breath of fresh air that South African leadership has required and although she is not exactly a politician, she has quickly gained a reputation for being an honest and candid commentator of South Africa’s social and economic challenges.

While she won’t be delivering the address herself, we expect to hear a few of her thoughts tonight when she’s interviewed on the #SONA2020 red carpet

Speaking about the opportunity to meet Cyril Ramaphosa at tonight’s Address, Zozibini said in an official statement, “He is the leader of our country. I feel privileged to get the chance to meet him and to be invited to such an important South African event.”.

We also expect Zozibini to use her platform to keep our leaders accountable to the promises they make. She has been unequivocal about her stance on the dangers faced by women and girls in South Africa and she will be lobbying to see an improvement.

Zozibini shared a message to the women and girls of our country when she said, “I want to tell them that they have everything it takes inside them to achieve their wildest dreams. They are not the weakest link and should never be made to think by anyone that they are. Their role in the world matters and the time is now to step into their power.”

Look out for Zozibini Tunzi  as well as Springbok captain Siya Kolisi on this year’s #SONA red carpet.
