Giving yourself the perfect eyebrows is actually easier than you think – just remember to exercise some restraint with those tweezers!
When it comes to the make-up world, the eyebrows are still very much having their moment; in fact, there’s more focus on them then ever, making them a super prominent fixture on your face. And it’s no surprise since they frame those beautiful peepers of yours!
We can all agree that the days of thin, static brows are officially dead and buried, with more and more experts advising that you throw those tweezers away altogether, and since we’re feeling the pressure to keep these brows on fleek, we thought it only fair that we share some tips on snagging yourself perfect eyebrows. You’re welcome!
Leave them alone!
We know that it can be difficult to resist the urge to reach for the tweezers, but do yourself a favour and leave them alone for at least six weeks. You need to let their true shape shine through and any over-tweezing you may have done return, so embrace a few weeks of unruly brows – it’ll be worth it!
Know what you’re working with
Now that you’ve let them grow out, you kind of need to be aware of what you’re working with to begin with, as this will affect how you tackle the task at hand (and how much work it’s going to be!).
Take a look in the mirror at your bare brows and figure out what you’ve got to work with… Are they straight? Is there an arch? Are they sparse or full and bushy? Are the hairs short or long? Have they been over-tweezed? Knowing this will enable you to get the best out of your brows.
Do some geometry
To work out your ideal shape, take your brow pencil and make a mark where the edge of your nose lines up with your brow – this is where they should start. Then hold your pencil diagonally from the tip of your nose up to your forehead; where it cuts your brow is where the tip of your arch should be. Then move the pencil out towards the end of your brow – where they cut is where your brow should end. Now take it easy with those tweezers, but get shaping.
Don’t be scared of some DIY
There are plenty of at home eyebrow tinting kits, and the majority of them are pretty foolproof. Getting yourself familiar with at-home tinting will not only save you money, but will save you time on filling in those brows – and it will help them look even more fab! Simply follow the steps on the box, take your time, voila – seriously, you’ll be surprised at how easy it is!
Use those tools and products
Most of us don’t even touch our brows when we do our make-up as it seems like too much admin. But even if you don’t fill them in, use a spoolie brush to brush them into place, and give them a lick of brow gel to keep them in shape; at the very least they’ll stay where they should be all day long!
