Boity was the name on everybody’s lips on Wednesday night as her reality TV show Own Your Throne debuted on BET Africa
“I look forward to the days when I no longer have to censor myself and slowly work at showing people the real me” – these were the rapper and presenter’s words as she spoke to Mail & Guardian ahead of her reality TV debut this week.
While some might be nervous at the prospect of sharing their lives with the country, Boity was absolutely ecstatic ahead of her grand premiere on BET. Judging by the reaction to the first episode, we can see why!
Own Your Throne aired its first episode on Wednesday evening and within minutes, Boity was trending at number one on Twitter.
Boity joined in the fun too; she held an exciting viewing party at Rockets in Bryanston, Johannesburg, where fans gathered to watch the show pilot with her for the first time.

While Boity might have stolen the show, special love was reserved for the rapper’s mother Modiegi Thulo.
We’ve always known that Boity and her mom were close, and we knew uMa was going to feature frequently throughout the season, but seeing the two of them interact as they did in the first episode was heartwarming for many of Mzansi’s most loyal viewers.

While South African viewers can be tough to please, it’s safe to say that they gave Boity’s debut a HUGE thumbs-up.
Let’s hope she can keep up the momentum for the rest of the season!
