Make home a place to relax

Life can be stressful, so make walking in your front door a relaxing experience.

This may mean decluttering, creating better organising systems or adding some soothing colours and textures to your home decor.

Start at the front door

A good place to start is a home’s entryway, which you could arrange to be more welcoming by following the design principles of  feng shui (click here to learn how).


What bugs you?

Next, identify your home’s ‘pain points’. This could be kitchen counter clutter or those pictures you’ve been meaning to put up for years. If it bugs you, add it to your list and schedule some time to address it.

The goal should be to minimise unnecessary stress caused by disorder – whether that be clutter or decor that doesn’t suit your space anymore.

Make it manageable

If you have a long to-do list for your home, don’t let it overwhelm you. Pick one easily achievable task to start with and tackle over a week or weekend, like cleaning out a junk drawer or organising your wardrobe.

Remember, there is no pressure – it’s not a race or a competition and there is no right way or wrong way to get through your list. Everything you do to make your home a more relaxing space, no matter how small, makes a difference for you and your family, and that’s what counts.
