That time she lost her Royal Eagles club to her estranged husband…

Things got messy between Shauwn and her estranged husband Sbu Mpisane in 2019. The couple fought over the ownership of their soccer club, the Royal Eagles FC.

Shauwn reportedly tried to register the club in her name at the PSL offices but her attempt failed. The businesswoman had changed the club’s name to Royal AM – in honour of their son Andile Mpisane.

The club’s name was changed back to Royal Eagles and Shauwn eventually pulled out of the ownership battle. Sbu was then declared the club’s sole owner. Andile took to Instagram to slam his father.

“From as far as I can remember my mother has been the nurturer of my passions… Football was ALWAYS that passion… She saw my love for football and took it upon herself to cash in her, PERSONAL, dividend fund to purchase what was then Sivusta Football Club, with the sole aim to groom & nurture MY passion.

I too became distant because as a teenage boy child, I had started seeing the treatment he gave my mother,” he wrote in a lengthy post.

Part 1/2 Yesterday was a bitter sweet day… I have been in quiet observation of how uMa wami has been vilified by her estranged husband in the papers. I have kept the ‘indaba zabantu abadala’ but now, my name too is dragged into it, by someone who should have been my protector… From as far as I can remember my mother has been the nurturer of my passions. She always ensured, still does, that I stayed on course. Football was ALWAYS that passion. I played for Amazulu Football Club’s under 13, from the age of 11. During this time, as busy as her schedule was, uMa wami, Ma’Mkhize would be pitch side cheering me on, despite her building HER business empire. One thing not well known about uMa wami, she is a humble, smart & ambitious lady, who obtained her BCom Accounting degree over 20 years ago. She saw my love for football and took it upon herself to cash in her, PERSONAL, dividend fund to purchase what was then Sivusta Football Club, with the sole aim to groom & nurture MY passion. She dove in head first and wholeheartedly into the world of football. Walked the corridors of football, with confidence. When her husband deserted the team over two years ago, facing relegation, with only 10 games left to the season. She did by sheer force and dedication. Because for her, it wasn’t just another accessory to show off, she respected the the process that goes into a thriving a club. Especially with her aim to keeping the legacy for ME, when I came of age. We live in a time where women, STILL, compensate to make their husbands not to appear emasculated, by their brilliance and achievements. For years I watched uMa wami, reduce her brilliance to raise up her husband’s ego – giving him positions and joint credit, where most in the boardroom new he had no contribution to. Unfortunately, what she bought, thinking it was for my legacy, created a resentment towards me from her husband. From June 2014, he became more distant and colder. I too became distant because as a teenage boy child, I had started seeing the treatment he gave my mother.
