If perfect skin is what you’re after, follow these tips and this may just be the year you finally reach your skin goals…

We know, we know, everywhere you turn you’re seeing “new year, new me” type content – and this bombardment can all feel pretty overwhelming.

But there is something about a new year – and a new decade on top of that – that gives you this clean slate, and while we’re sure you have your own list of goals or resolutions, we’ve decided that this is the year we prioritise our skin.

So, whether you’re after clearer skin, brighter skin, less wrinkly skin or hydrated skin (to name a few!), here are a few things you can do to make sure you reach your skin goals this yea:

We’ve all been there: it’s been a long, tough day and you’re desperate to get into bed; the absolute last thing you can possibly imagine doing is spending time on your eight-step skincare routine.

The thing is, sleeping with make-up on really is that bad for your skin. You’re taking the time that your skin does all its repair work and filling it with a days’ worth of make-up, dirt, grime and bacteria. At the very, very least, on those bad days, wash, tone and moisturise – you will actually feel much better for it!

Stop touching your face

Take a minute to think about all the things you touch throughout the day. The list is pretty endless, right? Well, every time you touch your face, you’re transferring the dirt and bacteria from all of those things onto your skin and into your pores, and then you wonder why you break out.

Make it a habit to not touch your face unless you’re cleaning it or applying make-up.

Become BFFs with your sunscreen

Rain or shine, winter or summer, you need to be applying sunscreen to your skin. The sun is the leading cause of ageing and pigmentation, so why wouldn’t you want to do everything in your power to keep those harmful rays at bay? Make it a daily step to your routine following moisturiser – it really doesn’t add that much time!

Clean those make-up brushes 

Most of us don’t even know that we should clean our make-up brushes, but when you think about it, it’s actually pretty obvious! Make-up brushes gather product, bacteria and dirt, so the longer you wait between cleans, the more of that you brush onto your face every day – scary thought, right?!

Use a mask

When you’re feeling run down, you do something to counter that, right? Well, your skin is no different. If it’s looking super dry, dull, having more breakouts or any other problem, it needs some sort of action; enter the face mask.

Select one that will help with your problem, and use it weekly – they really do make a difference!

Change your pillowcase

Sleeping on the same pillowcase for too many consecutive nights is also a no-no since dirt and bacteria gather on it. Change your pillowcase more often than you normally would, and consider switching it for a silk one; they really are as good as they say!

Drink more water!

You had to know this one was coming, but do we really need to say more?!
