“Exercise for Weight Loss” is an article series detailing the most successful exercise strategies that can be used to assist in speeding up the weight loss process, and help you end-up with a sleek, toned physique once your body weight gets down to your goal-weight.
Press for success
Pressing a barbell overhead is not something you see too many people doing in the gym – BUT pressing the bar overhead is one of the simplest AND most effective things you could do with a barbell. It is definitely something you should consider adding to your exercise routine this year.
The press is, and always will be the best barbell exercise for upper body training, because it makes you more ‘capable’ in your daily life.
If you start out light, increase the weight in small amounts, and avoid falling over by making sure you’re balanced when you do it, it’s a really easy exercise to get right. Start just under your chin, and press up in a straight line, moving your chin out of the way of the bar. Stop with arms fully extended, and your shoulders shrugged up.
You’ll get rid of your arm flab and replace it with firm triceps in no time, and you’ll be stronger too.
