In comparison to a meat burger, Danna Hunnes, senior dietitian at the University of California, says that although plant-based meat alternatives are better for your heart and health overall, they are not health foods.

Some of these plant-based foods are highly processed and contain an unhealthy amount of calories, saturated fat and salt.
