Facade and entry to a contemporary  home in Australia

Going global

Travelling the world is on almost everyone’s bucket list and today’s travellers seem to be trying to recreate those holiday experiences back at home with home decor and landscaping.

Known for decorative tiles, the search for Spanish style bathrooms is up +309% while Indian living rooms, known for oversized sculptures, shining brass and bright colours, is up +2 080%.

The French never go out of style and searches for French antiques are up +384%.

Drought-tolerant gardening is the new norm here in South Africa, which is why we are one of the countries with the biggest interest in drought-tolerant Australian landscaping (up by 781%).

Into the wild

The call of the wild is the answer to digital fatigue. This trend has us putting down our phones and reconnecting with nature – even if it’s in our own backyard.

The trend is being seen in an increased interest in outdoor kitchen bars (up 2 795%) and outdoor play areas where the kids dig, splash, slide.

As for home design, there’s a drive to ‘bring the outdoors inside’ (up 108%) with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and sunrooms to let the sunshine in.
