With the aim of losing weight in 2020, thousands of people have started following a keto diet, but is it sustainable?

The keto or ketogenic diet is rich in protein and fats and low in carbohydrates.

It works because the body uses sugar from carbohydrates as a primary source of energy, but on a keto diet, the body is forced to use fat as an energy source. To do this, the liver transforms stored fat into ketones for energy, resulting in weight loss.

While it’s usually used to aid weight loss, the diet has also been found to help improve blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol levels. However, the diet is designed to be just that, a short-term eating plan, not a long-term way of life.
