If you are wondering whether you can eat yoghurt whilst on a weight-loss diet, the answer is often ‘yes’.

This of course depends on the type of diet that you have adopted. For example, if you are avoiding all dairy products then you may have to give that serving of yoghurt a skip. If you are unsure as to whether to include yoghurt in the type of diet that you are following, be sure to consult with your dietician

Read and compare food labels

Be sure to always read the nutritional labels of the yoghurt products that are available at your local supermarket. Compare them before making a decision as to which one to purchase. Avoid relying on a particular brand that may be on promotion. Whilst the price may be lower than similar products, it may not be the best option for you, if you are trying to lose weight.

Sometimes fat-free yoghurts may contain more sugar. For example, they may contain honey or have other sweeteners added to them. It is therefore very important to read and understand nutritional labels.

Enjoy Greek yoghurt

Try having some Greek or even plain yoghurt. These are usually a good source of protein and are delicious when consumed on their own. For added flavour, add some fresh fruit.
