If you’re staying over in Richard’s Bay – for business or leisure – the BON Hotel at the TuziGazi Waterfront is a great choice!
We spent a night at the hotel in December and it was a convenient stopover on our way to Hluhluwe from Durban. It’s modern, the decor is chic and stylish and it overlooks the yacht harbour. In fact the hotel is so close to the water, that you can fall asleep to the sounds of lapping waves. You can also almost touch the sea from the hotel pool, and outdoor tables positioned in shallow water give the pool area a tropical resort feel.
Rooms are spacious and bathrooms are really luxurious
Our bathroom featured a big bathtub – not often encountered in hotels – and particularly useful for families with small children who don’t shower. Speaking of showers, the walk-in shower with rain shower head was easily big enough for two. The toilet inside the bathroom was behind an opaque glass door for privacy – another clever design in this modern bathroom.
The casual and convenient layout of the hotel is great for business and family stays
A glassed-in meeting room on our floor – great for small meetings or private phone calls – was one of three and the hotel also has a larger conference room. There are lots of comfy couches all over for relaxing and a cocktail bar for after-work drinks.
The hotel’s Ship to Shore Restaurant features doors that open out onto the deck where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner al-fresco while enjoying the waterfront views. Everything from cakes and milkshakes, wraps and burgers, to salmon and lamb chops are on the menu and we enjoyed a leisurely dinner with personal service from the chef.
Breakfast the next morning didn’t disappoint either – and the buffet offered plenty of hot and cold options for both meat eaters and vegetarians.
The Dros and a variety of shopping options are next door at the TuziGazi Waterfront and the Boardwalk Mall is a five-kilometre drive from the hotel. This four-star, friendly, modern and upmarket hotel is a fun place to stay on your next visit to Richard’s Bay.
