It seems South Africa is not the only country still battling racism.

A lesbian mother and her partner living in all-white town in Ohio were shocked to find that there had been a mix-up at the sperm bank, after the mother gave birth to a mixed-race baby.

They paid almost R30 000 for six vials of sperm from the Chicago-based sperm bank

The couple said that the selected sperm from a white donor, but were sent the wrong vials. The clinic responded to the error by sending the couple an apology note and a refund for the sperm.

The women fear that their daughter will be discriminated against by the residents of the small town, and have even been forced to go to a â??blackâ?? neighbourhood to have their daughterâ??s hair cut.

They are considering moving to a more diverse and accepting community now that their daughter is two years old, and is beginning to be affected by the racist actions of community members.

Family members make racist comments

They canâ??t, however, avoid the disparaging comments that come from their own family members! According to the lawsuit, the childâ??s uncle makes openly racist and disparaging comments in the childâ??s presence.

The women are suing the sperm bank for wrongful birth and breach of warranty, citing the emotional and economic losses they have suffered.
