We began the week by celebrating the news that Siya Kolisi has joined Jay Z’s sports management agency Roc Nation, and are ending it debating with tweeps who think that the Springbok captain has “sold his soul to the Illuminati”

We don’t hear Illuminati rumours as frequently as we used to. The internet was once dominated by conspiracy theories, documentaries and entire essays suggesting that certain celebrities (everybody from Jay Z to Lady Gaga) had pledged allegiance with an underground society which was secretly controlling the world using pop culture figures.

However, it appears as if some people still believe that the Illuminati exists because when Siya struck a big deal this week, the conspiracy theorists found their way back online and suggested that the 28-year-old had been ‘bought’.

After a week of rumours, Siya confirmed on social media this week that he had just joined Roc Nation Sports – a management company aimed at boosting the fortunes and profiles of some of the biggest athletes in the world. The company is a division of Jay Z’s Roc Nation and Siya joins the likes of basketball superstars Skylar Diggins-Smith and Kyrie Irving on the roster.

The Boks captain’s performance at the recently concluded Rugby World Cup won the Roc Nation team over but some tweeps believe that there are other forces at play here.
