Make your own muesli bars and save on calories.

Purchasing and enjoying granola or muesli bars can provide you with a burst of energy. These snacks are usually packed with calories. They may contain sugar, honey or sweeteners together with other ingredients that hold other forms of sugar. For example, raisins contain fructose. Fructose is basically the form of sugar that is found in fruit. Fructose gives fruit its sweet flavour.

Control the amount of sugar that you take in by perhaps making your very own muesli bars. In this way you can reduce the number of calories in your snacks.  You could perhaps include some sliced apples or other fruit, a small variety of nuts, peanut butter, etc. Chopped pieces of dried fruit also make a great option.

Cut down on added sugars

Limit the amount of added sugar that you combine with the above-mentioned ingredients. For example, if one tablespoon of honey is sufficient for the quantity you are making, then avoid adding more.

Consult a professional

Always consult a dietitian if you require assistance in putting a meal or snack plan together. In addition, you should always check with your doctor before making any drastic changes to your diet, especially if you are under medication or suffer from any medical condition that has an effect on your diet.
