If you want to spruce up your home for the festive season, learn how to paint raw brick walls to brighten up your space…

Whether it’s interior or exterior raw brick walls, you need to make sure that the walls are clean and dry before you apply any paint.

How to clean the walls

To ensure that your walls are clean, use a sugar soap solution with a soft bristle brush. Use a stiff brush to remove any loose material from your interior brick walls and make any small repairs with Dulux Crackfiller.

Primed for paint

If the walls are powdery and porous, apply a coat of Dulux Bonding Liquid before applying two topcoats in the finish of your choice.

Sometimes you have stains bleeding through brick, especially on a chimney breast. These can be stopped with a coat of Dulux Universal Undercoat applied over the stained area, which must be allowed to dry thoroughly before you apply any topcoat.
