You don’t have to break the bank to have luxurious lashes, and these budget-friendly mascaras will prove just that!

As a beauty-product lover, one of my make-up absolute must-haves is a decent mascara; it completes every make-up look and is that one product you can quickly slap on that will make you look like you’ve actually made an effort.

And while there are many great products on the market, you’ll be pleased to know that some of our favourite mascaras are actually super affordable… and even out-do their premium counterparts.

While we all agreed there isn’t such a thing as a bad Maybelline mascara, there was, without a doubt, a firm favourite among the beauty gurus.

Maybelline has two cult classics in their mascara range; the green and pink Great Lash Mascara, and the iconic yellow and pink Colossal Mascara, and it is this yellow and pink one that just outdid its counterpart.

The product contains collagen, nourishing and plumping your lashes, giving you nine times more volume in just one swipe, making this one pretty hard to beat when it’s volume you’re looking for.

The only ‘best mascaras’ list you need

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
R69

If you’ve never heard about this mascara, you’ve been missing out. Every beauty writer took a moment to rave about this princess because it works like a bomb and is a steal!

The conic shape of the fibre brush allows for easy application, and the product stays put all day long. Be sure to give the wand a little wipe before application, though, as a generous amount of mascara comes out on the brush, but we all agree that this gem out-does most of its high-end counterparts.

L.O.V Cosmetics Lovrose Sculpting Volume Mascara
R129

This mascara could not feel more luxurious, making you think that you’re coating your lashes in a premium product.

It contains rose blossom extract, and this, together with provitamin B5, nourishes, lengthens and expands those lashes, giving you tons of volume. The fibre brush is small and super slim, and this makes sure that no lash will be left uncovered, lifting and curling them to create more volume that you’re prepared for.

And can we just take a moment to talk about that packaging?!

That rose gold tube couldn’t be prettier, and is the first of its kind in an all-glass bottle – you’ll definitely be showing that one off!

Mascara hacks you need to know

Catrice Cosmetics Glam & Doll False Lashes Mascara
R79

If you want volume and glam, this mascara will be your new best friend! Once again, we’re pretty obsessed with just about all of the mascaras this brand has to offer, but this one is up there when it comes to volume.

With a slightly different shaped elastomer brush that helps to separate and coat each individual lash, you’ll find application easy with this one.

We love a product that does what it says, and this mascara gives you glam, doll-like lashes in a matter of coats, so don’t be surprised if everyone thinks you’re rocking false lashes for the day!
