Former Proteas captain Graeme Smith and his partner Romy Lanfranchi became husband and wife on Saturday

The couple held their wedding on the same day as the 2019 Rugby World Cup final.

Guests were seeing sporting Springbok jerseys while watching the match ahead of the ceremony.

“2 November was an incredible day! #wedding #love #family #beloftebos #friends #blendedfamily #daytoremember,” Graeme captioned a picture from their big day.

Romy also took to Instagram to share a special moment from the wedding

“I am not often at a loss for words, but today I am. There are no words to describe the perfection of our special day. To say everything exceeded all our expectations is an understatement to say the least. We cannot thank all our family, friends, venue hosts and incredible service providers enough. My cup runneth over. That is all,” she wrote.

Graeme and Romy welcomed their first child together in 2016.

The baby boy was joined by his four siblings in the Smith-Lanfranchi household. Graeme has two children with ex-wife Morgan Deane while Romy has two sons with her late husband, Michel Lanfranchi.

Michel reportedly died of a brain haemorrhage in 2013.

Graeme and Romy were introduced to each other by mutual friends.

“I knew on meeting her that I wanted to spend more time with her and get to know her better. We have common interests and similar values. We are good friends and enjoy having conversations about a wide range of things,” he told YOU magazine in a 2016 interview.
