If you want to boycott the gimmicky gifts and plastic waste this festive season, here’s a tutorial on how to make DIY Christmas crackers
From plastic bags to plastic toys, increased awareness of how plastic affects the environment has inspired more people to consider avoiding unnecessary plastic items.
With the festive season approaching, plastic toys in store-bought Christmas crackers are in the spotlight and many people are even calling for the wasteful gimmick gadgets to be banned.
If you’d like to make your Christmas table a little more environmentally-friendly this festive season, you could make your own crackers and fill them with items that will be used and appreciated, rather than dumped in the bin.
What you need
- Christmas wrapping paper
- Cardboard rolls
- Glue or glue tape
- Cracker snaps
- Cracker fillers like a small gift, sweets or chocolates and a printed-out joke
