South Africans took to Twitter to slam former National Assembly speaker Baleka Mbete’s recent interview on Al Jazeera…
After being asked about research by the World Bank which showed that SA was an unequal society, she told presenter Mehdi Hasan, that the World Bank was not God.
She was also unable to answer a question about why no one has been held responsible for the horror deaths of miners in Marikana in 2012.
Baleka Mbete says she has no information on who was held accountable for the Marikana Massacre.
She says she is clueless around the Marikana Massacre. This is the most senior person in the ANC and a former Speaker of Parliament, and she claims to know nothing.

After an audience member questioned her about the ANC’s failure to take control of crime in the country, she said that colonialists had brought crime from Europe to Africa.
What a mess 🤦🏾♂️
Medhi: South Africa is the 5th highest murder rates in the world.
Baleka Mbete: I am wondering who said that ?
Medhi: The UN you might have heard of them
Baleka Mbete: So what …

This interview with Baleka Mbete is absolutely cringeworthy. A reminder that it was not only corruption that set us back for a decade, but deep incompetence and utter detachment from reality. https://t.co/FR0pvcD1Dj

Somebody in Luthuli House must explain how this Aljazeera interview with Baleka Mbete was strategized? The messaging is highly defensive, deflecting left and right.
According to Baleka, we can’t even accept we are the most the unequal society in the world 🤷🏾♀️

Cringeworthy. On all sides…
<<In this episode of Head to Head, @mehdirhasan Hasan challenges ANC stalwart Baleka Mbete on whether, in 25 years since apartheid, her party has betrayed Mandela’s legacy and the dreams of South Africa’s rainbow nation.>>https://t.co/X5fZCLZg8z

Who made Baleka Mbete face Mehdi Hasan on Head to Head? This is the easiest I have seen Mehdi Hasan roast someone and he still finished her.
