Only in Mzansi can an awards ceremony be briefly interrupted because of loadshedding

That’s exactly what happened at the 2019 Feather Awards on Thursday night.

The lights were cut just before singer Busiswa was about to hit the stage.

A Twitter user shared a video that showed some audience members lighting up the venue with their cellphones.

The disruption did not stop everyone from having a blast.

Some attendees also complained about poor pictures and the venue.

Despite the loadshedding drama, the Feather Awards was a major success

LootLove stole the show in a gold dress by Taússy Daniel. The TV and radio personality was also a big winner on the night.

“Feather Awards 2019 Best Styled Human. Thank you,” she wrote about her ‘Best Styled Individual’ award.

YouTube star Lasizwe was sad that he did not win the ‘Social Media Personality’ award. Dr Sindi van Zyl took home the prize.

“I would have loved to win the award I was nominated for but it’s ok because my BIGGEST win is the lives I’ve touched through my videos and that’s my AWARD,” Lasizwe wrote.
