It’s a little disheartening to prepare a beautiful fruit platter, only for the fruit to turn brown almost before your eyes!

Fortunately, there’s an easy fix that will help keep your fruit looking as good as it tastes.

Firstly, it’s good to know that there’s nothing actually going wrong with your fruit. It’s simply the process of ‘oxidisation’, as the oxygen in the air meets the fresh juices of the cut surface.

The easiest way to ward off the brown is to coat the cut surfaces in an acidic juice

You’ll often see lemon juice recommended, but almost any acidic fruit juice will do. If the fruit is for a fruit salad or platter, you can also simply cut your acidic fruits first, and then add the ‘troublesome’ fruits to the mix.

With this one simple change to your preparation technique, your cut fruit will always look appealing!
