Severe thunderstorms are expected over the western Highveld of Mpumalanga, the western Bushveld of Limpopo and the northern and eastern parts of Gauteng.

According to the South African Weather Service, extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the northern parts of the Northern Cape and the north-eastern parts of the North-West (Bojanala Platinum District).


Snow still expected on Thursday

According to predictions from SnowReportSA, the high ground around Hogsback and other parts of the Eastern Cape, central and Southern Drakensberg, and parts of Lesotho could see some light snowfalls on Thursday.

However, don’t expect to be building any snowmen! According to SnowReportSA  “All snowfalls are expected to be very light and may not even settle on the ground.”

1. Gauteng

Fine in the central and northern parts in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms but isolated in the south west. It will be windy from the afternoon.

2. Mpumalanga

Cloudy and cool to cold in the east, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers. Morning fog patches are expected over the southern Highveld and along the escarpment.

3. Limpopo

Cloudy with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot to very hot in the Limpopo Valley and the south-western Bushveld, with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the west and south. It will be windy in the Lowveld spreading to the central and western parts by the afternoon.

4. North-West

Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy and very hot with isolated thundershowers in the east from the afternoon where it will be windy.

5. Free State

Fog patches in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers in the east where it will be windy. It will be fine in the west.

6. Northern Cape

Cool in the south, otherwise fine and warm.

The wind along the coast will be strong south-easterly.

7. Western Cape

Partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and cool, but warm in the West Coast district.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly along the south coast, otherwise fresh to strong south-easterly.

8. Western half of the Eastern Cape

Partly cloudy and cool with light isolated showers and rain along the coast in the morning.

The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh easterly in the afternoon.

9. Eastern half of the Eastern Cape

Partly cloudy and cool in the north-west, otherwise cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain, but scattered in the south.

The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly, becoming south-easterly in the afternoon, but north-easterly from the evening.

10. Kwazulu-Natal

Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cold with isolated showers, but scattered in the east where it will be cool.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly, moderating from the south towards afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Low
