Second (and, even third!) marriages are becoming more and more normal, and as such, so are blended or step-families…

Now, making the transition to a blended family can be difficult for children. But, according to parenting expert, Dr Karen Phillip, there are steps that you can take to help them to cope.

These steps include:

  • Reassuring step-children that you are not trying to ‘take’ their parent away from them
  • Allowing time to be spent between the parent and biological child alone
  • Doing fun things together to foster a sense of togetherness, and family
