Now, making the transition to a blended family can be difficult for children. But, according to parenting expert, Dr Karen Phillip, there are steps that you can take to help them to cope.
These steps include:
- Reassuring step-children that you are not trying to ‘take’ their parent away from them
- Allowing time to be spent between the parent and biological child alone
- Doing fun things together to foster a sense of togetherness, and family
