South Africa’s musical collective The Ndlovu Youth Choir is ready to compete against 9 other top acts in the upcoming grand finale of America’s Got Talent
The time has finally arrived for Mzansi’s hottest new musical export. The young boys and girls who make up the exciting Ndlovu Youth Choir have been put through their paces numerous times and are now ready to perform in front of the world as they vie for the greatest prize on US television: being crowned the winners of America’s Got Talent.
Their task isn’t a simple one though; the ensemble, made up of teenagers and young adults from Limpopo, will be going head to head against a range of spectacular talent. The competition includes a prodigious young violinist, a 29-person dance crew, a seriously hilarious comedian and another six finalists.
Speaking on social media, the choristers revealed that they had something “massive” planned for the two-night finale which will be taking place on the 17th and 18th of September in the USA
Their official account wrote: “We’re giving our everything to take our performance to the next level and the hours of rehearsals are paying off big time! We can’t wait to unleash the energy and excitement that has built up over the past two weeks.”

While they were hard at work on their preparations, the Ndlovu singers were given a boost of confidence by a familiar and famous face.
Felicia Mabuza-Suttle took a moment to pay the choir a visit and send them her good wishes:
“Congrats Ndlovu Youth Choir Africa! I said that when you make it to the finals, I would bring you some MML – Mzansi motherly love. I kept my promise. Thank you for sharing our true spirit of ubuntu with the world. You are winners already!”

In the build-up to the big finale, it has been reported that one or two of the choir’s singers have begun feeling a little homesick
Their choirmaster Ralf Schmitt confirmed this in a brief interview with Times Live before revealing that in order to combat the homesickness, they had arranged lunches of pap and vleis for the singers.

The Ndlovu Youth Choir will be competing in the first of two finales on Tuesday evening (American time) which will be Wednesday morning at 02:00 am South African time, however it has not been confirmed if DSTV will be broadcasting the finale live.
The ensemble will then have to wait another 24 hours before finding out if they accrued enough votes to win this year’s edition of America’s Got Talent.
Good luck to the boys and girls from Mzansi! Do you have any messages of encouragement for them?
