DJ Fresh has broken his silence and vehemently denies the sexual assault allegations levelled against him

Fresh was one of several high-profile personalities whose name landed on one of several ‘offenders lists’ as part of the #AmINext campaign. In the wake of widespread femicide attacks thousands of women have come out to tell their story and have named their alleged perpetrators.

The radio host released a statement on Tuesday afternoon, in which he slammed the claims.

“The current allegations are false and without base. They have been made and published, recklessly. The fight against Gender based Violence is one of the biggest battles in our country and it saddens me that the focus is being shifted from real issues and perpetrators,” read part of the statement.

Fresh added that he has always used his position to raise awareness and will continue to do so.

“I have supported initiative in this area, motivated by the wish for a safe country for women and children, and the public at large. I am, and will, remain committed to this cause.”

Even though he did not name anyone, Fresh said he planned to take legal action against an ex-girlfriend who had levelled allegations against him on her Twitter account

In a lengthy thread, the woman in question accused DJ Fresh of cheating with younger women, some of whom she claims were in high school at the time.

“As for the statement made by someone I had a relationship with over 18 years ago, they are without merit and denied. I have, in the past, chosen to ignore this person, but due to the implications of the most recent statements, the matter has been referred to my attorneys to handle and I am not in a position to comment at this time.”
