From Miss South Africa 2019 Zozibini Tunzi gracing the catwalk for Maxhosa Africa by Laduma Ngxokolo, to the Basking in the Osun River collection by Eliana Murargy — the two designers formed a perfect complement to each other, in their combined showcase at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 collections.

West African-based Eliana Murargy described her new collection, entitled Basking in the Osun River.
“The collection is all about the ethereal woman — she is simple, a bit classic, a bit edgy, and the presentation is all about an African goddess. The Osun River represents the flow of the clothes, with a lot of natural fabrics, such as vegan leather, tweed, silk, cotton, and recycled plastic which has a foil-like quality in my collection.”
At the South African Consulate General in New York City, designer Laduma Ngxokolo expressed his enthusiasm for Miss South Africa. “I’m super excited for Zozibini (Miss South Africa 2019) as she is the embodiment of the ‘natural woman’, and the fact that we’re from the same home province, the Eastern Cape, and both proudly Xhosa, and proudly South African — I’m so honoured we had the opportunity to have her as the highlight of the Maxhosa show, demonstrating our heritage.”
