A new feature documentary, Seahorse, tells the story of Freddy McConnell,  whose desire to have a baby and start his own family was filmed from start to finish, including the birth

In the exclusive video above for the Guardian, Freddy and director Jeanie Finlay discuss the collaborative process behind the scenes of the film, and the complex nuances and challenges of portraying an emotional and unpredictable process.

“Made with unprecedented access and collaboration over three years, the film follows Freddy from preparing to conceive right through to birth. It is an intimate, audacious and lyrical story for the cinema about conception, pregnancy, birth and what makes us who we are.”

The feature documentary has been screened in UK cinemas from 30 August. There is no word on whether or not it will hit SA cinemas. Find out more about the film here: www.seahorsefilm.com
