Directly from stellar performances in Hong Kong and Vietnam, comedy icon Barry Hiltonâ??s next sizzling performance is on home ground – at The Willowbridge Barnyard in Cape Town.
Cape Town has a special place in Barry’s heart
He spent his high-school years in the Mother City – at Observatory Boys High – before qualifying as an electrician and working there as one for almost a decade. Last year HIlton filled the 4 500-seater Grand West Arena for his solo performance Best of Everything Ever.
“Funny is funny,” says Barry, who recently relocated to picturesque Hermanus in the Western Cape
â??I just see things differently,â? says Barry. â??Itâ??s not even as if Iâ??m on the lookout for new material, it literally just jumps out at me. Every day. All day. Travelling so extensively gives me heaps of new material and makes me focus on making my material accessible to as many people as possible,â? says Barry.
With a track record of 30 years in comedy, Barry has raised the worldâ??s laughter level considerably. In 2013, his industry peers recognized him with the Comics Choice Lifetime Achiever Award
Hilton will be kick-starting the International Comedy Festival in Hong Kong and then has performances booked in Australia and New Zealand.
There are also two film projects in the pipeline for this year and Barry is expanding his range of Nou Gaan Ons Braai merchandise with the launch of a site dedicated specifically to the sale thereof – www.ngobraai.co.za
His show in Cape Town at the Willowbridge Barnyard starts at 20:00 and tickets are R135 per person and available at: www.barnyardtheatre.co.za
