Loyiso Bala is about to fly the South African flag high overseas

The singer has been invited to take up a role as global influencer at Goalkeepers 2019 which takes place in New York next month.

The event, which is hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, brings together leaders and influencers from across the world who work in various areas of social development in their respective countries.

The two day event sees multiple thought-leaders presenting data, case studies and keynote speeches that relate to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, also known as “Global Goals”.

And representing Mzansi at this year’s prestigious occasion will be Loyiso Bala who was nominated to be one of their global influencers after being recognised for the multiple causes and organisations he has supported in South Africa.

The singer has worked with the likes of Tongaat Child and Welfare Society, The Smile Foundation and a number of other NGOs and charities over the past few years and it looks as if his work has been acknowledged abroad.

An excited Loyiso took to Instagram to share the great news

He said, “I am incredibly honoured to be invited to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ‘Goalkeepers 2019’ event in NYC. This year’s conference aims to bring together a new generation of leaders to accelerate progress in achieving global equality.”

Speaking to TshisaLive earlier this week, the singer expressed his excitement at the prospect of engaging in dialogue with some of the biggest movers and shakers in the planet.

“I am looking forward to meeting with other young world leaders and connecting with them. I believe the challenges we are facing right now as a country cannot be solved in isolation. Our world systems are constantly declining and as the father of two daughters, I want to see them live in a better world.”

Loyiso will be jetting off to the big apple in the last week of September and we look forward to the learnings he can bring back to South Africa afterwards.
