4.     100% fruit juice?

Many of the fruit juices in the store say something like ‘100% pure fruit juice’ on the package. The majority of them are claiming this because it’s “true”, but just not in the way you think it is.

If you’re buying guava juice, and it says ‘100% pure fruit juice’, your assumption is that it’s 100% guava juice, right? Unfortunately, that’s not an economical or sustainable way to sell guava juice.

So what manufacturers do is mix some guava juice with some grape, apple or other cheaper fruit (or veggie) juice, and sell it as 100% pure, because that’s still true. While this is not necessarily bad for your health (just be sure to check the calorie count per glass), it’s just another example of how you can be hoodwinked by fancy packaging.

Always be sure to check the labels so you know where your money is going, and you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.
