DEURNE-ANTWERPEN, Belgium, August 12 (ANA) – South African wheelchair tennis rising star Mariska Venter and her Russian partner Polina Shakirova clinched the Memorial Jens Vanherck ITF Futures doubles title in Deurne-Antwerpen, Belgium, on Sunday.
The South African-Russian top seeds saw off Najwa Awane (MAR) / Ilse van Burgwal (NED) 6-3 6-0 to lift the title.
Venter also reached the women’s singles final but went down to Chinese top seed Hui Min Huang 6-3 6-2 in the final showdown.
Venter will next move on to the Ath Open, an ITF level 3 event also in Belgium from August 14-17. The former world No 1 junior will be joined by compatriot Leon Els.
Lucas Sithole & Mariska Venter will be in action this week at the Belgian Open, an ITF level 1 event staged in Jambes from 31 July-4 August
