Former Public Protector, Professor Thuli Madonsela will be faced a daunting climb up Kilimanjaro, but reached the goal of summiting the peak on Friday, August 9, in honour of Women’s Day…

Madonsela on Sunday 4 August, joined a team of climbers sent off for the gruelling Trek4Mandela expedition up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for sanitary towels for school girls.

The climb was a partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Imbumba Foundation and teammates range from media personalities to corporate executives.

On Monday, Madonsela tweeted “Summiting Kilimanjaro against unprecedented odds confirmed that many of life’s challenges that seem impossible can be overcome if we focus on our purpose.”

President Cyril Ramaphosa congratulated the team on their success.
