Why are some people happier than others and can a pessimist become a happy optimist?
Bachfeld, a Berlin-based happiness coach, says that becoming happier is all about changing habits.
“When you change something small – little habits – in time you arrive somewhere completely and utterly different.”
She says that if she had to point to one habit that would make a big difference, it’s the habit of gratitude.
“When you’re grateful, you looking not at the one point, the one problem, but you’re looking at the many, many, many points – the things you have,” says Bachfeld.
If you’d like to boost your happiness, try Bachfeld’s happiness techniques:
- Keep a daily gratitude/blessings journal and write down three things you are grateful for or things that went well each day.
- Talk to others in constructive and active ways – it’s about reacting to others positively to help relationships with others blossom.
- Identify and use your strengths in new ways. Bachfeld says that this will make you feel good and could even help you find your calling in life.
